Dr Michelle Riedlinger is a Chief Investigator in QUT’s Digital Media Research Centre. Her research focusses on new modes of audience engagement with health and environmental research and the emerging roles for “alternative” communicators of science.

She co-leads a Meta-funded project looking at the strategies used by fact checkers in countries in the Global South when communicating about COVID-19 vaccines and online health-related information. She is a member of the Global Journalism Innovation Lab, which investigates new approaches to knowledge-based journalism and new modes of audience engagement. She is working on a number of comparative cross-national studies investigating digital communication practices associated with the COVID-19 pandemic.
