Thao Phan is a Research Fellow in the ARC Centre of Excellence for Automated Decision-Making & Society. She is a feminist technoscience scholar who specializes in the study of gender and race in algorithmic culture. She has a background in media and communications and has published on topics including the gendered and racialsied aesthetics of digital voice assistants, racial classification on online platforms, who funds AI ethics, and representations of AI in popular culture.
