Dang Nguyen is a Research Fellow at the RMIT University node of the ARC Centre of Excellence for Automated Decision-Making & Society (ADM+S).

Dang Nguyen (Nguyễn Hồng Hải Đăng in her native Vietnamese) is located in the School of Media and Communication at RMIT University, Melbourne. She holds a PhD from the University of Melbourne and a Master of Science in Social Science of the Internet from the University of Oxford, where she was a Chevening Scholar. She was also a 2019-20 Fox International Fellow at Yale University.

Dang is interested in the socio-historical dimensions of automation as part of her work at the ADM+S. Currently, she’s working on projects that look at three related strains of research: (1) the escalated adoption (and legitimisation) of automated technologies through the COVID-19 pandemic across the developing world, (2) the moral economy of informal automated work and precarious labour in the Global South, and (3) the politics of health data.
