Dr Anne Kruger is the newly appointed Associate Director of RMIT FactLab at RMIT University. RMIT FactLab houses a partnership with Meta’s third-party fact checking program, and the lab also works hand in hand with RMIT ABC Fact Check which focuses on fact-checking claims by public figures. Anne brings to RMIT FactLab the collaborative CrossCheck initiative of international verification experts.

She is a subcommittee board member for Australia’s first misinformation and disinformation regulatory code and was co-chief investigator during the code’s development. Anne previously worked at First Draft for nearly four years and was an anchor at CNN Hong Kong during SARS. She established a verification lab at the University of Hong Kong collaborating with Meedan in 2014 as part of her PhD, and taught news literacy for UNESCO partners throughout the APAC region.
