The Symposium is an in-person and online event, the following protocols are designed to ensure that all in-person activities can be done safely and prevent the spread of COVID-19.
All visitors are required to follow health and safety advice from UQ, including practising good personal hygiene with regular hand hygiene, and staying home if you are unwell.
Health and safety precautions are in effect on campus. Disposable masks, rapid antigen tests, sanitiser, and disinfectant wipes for self-use surface cleaning will be available for symposium attendees.

COVID Guidelines for Face to Face Meetings
Hints on how to protect yourself and others from transmission of COVID-19
Face mask requirements
Face masks are encouraged in indoor settings where it is difficult to maintain physical distance from others.
Ventilation
At UQ, HEPA filters are mainly used in Laboratory spaces subject to regulatory requirements. UQ is fully compliant with Queensland Government requirements for ventilation, including:
-Well maintained and operated air conditioning and ventilation systems under the comprehensive planned preventative maintenance (PPM) contract to help reduce the risk of virus transmission.
-Regular inspections, maintenance and cleaning of all air conditioning and ventilation systems. This is also included in the PPM activities completed across all campus indoor spaces.
Air quality monitoring program
UQ has initiated an indoor air quality (CO2) monitoring program to monitor each of the indoor spaces across UQ. All symposium event spaces have recorded CO2 results of less than 1000ppm, which is considered acceptable within the guidelines for maintaining good indoor air quality in office spaces.
Sanitiser and cleaning
As well as providing every attendee with their own small supply of sanitiser so they can sanitise any furniture or equipment before use, additional sanitiser will be available in every venue. During panels, wherever possible, we will sanitise mikes before they are used by a second user, however attendees may also wish to take this precaution and use sanitiser on any equipment before using it.
Rapid antigen testing
Rapid Antigen Tests (RATs) will be available to anyone who feels unwell during the event or who is concerned about being exposed to a positive case.
Travel
If you are travelling to the event, please consider your own safety and consider wearing an N95/P2 mask at airports and during airplane travel and in shared spaces such as lifts, vehicles, taxis, buses and other ground travel. You may wish to request in advance that windows be at least partly open on both sides of vehicles prior to arrival, the driver be in a mask, and vehicle air-conditioning set to fresh air intake.
Other guidelines
Please adhere to good hygiene and physical distancing practices wherever possible.
